Shauna Martin
Owner and Transaction Management Assistant
I graduated from the University of Washington with a degree in Zoology and a degree in Psychology, with a focus in animal behavior. I fell in love with birds while I was doing an internship at a local zoo that featured an Avian habitat with many species of parrots. Over time, I fell in love with their incredible intelligence, sensitivity, silliness and personality. After I graduated from college, all I desperately wanted to do was find work with birds in any capacity. I simply couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
As it turned out, I found a position at a veterinary office that specialized and treated ONLY domestic birds! The next 8 years of my life were all about domesticated Avian medicine. I loved all of the birds, their unique personalities, and the special bond they had with their owner. We practiced medicine on a wide range of feathered friends including Peacocks, Chickens, Turkeys, Pigeons and even Hawks occasionally. When I started my job at the veterinary clinic, I only had 2 cats; but along the way I adopted an adorable Timneh African Grey Parrot named “Rhoda-Doo”, followed by a feisty African Grey Parrot named “Momo”. Sadly, I lost Rhoda-Doo in October of 2014, but Momo is still as feisty as ever at the tender age of 28!
I decided to transition from Veterinary Medicine in early 2015 when I took a chance applying for a position as an assistant to a busy listing agent working strictly for Fannie Mae working exclusively on foreclosure transactions.
From there, I moved into a new position in 2016 working for a local team of 6 agents which has grown into a team of 30 over the last 4 years! I was brand new to the residential aspects of real estate when I first started with the team, but I embraced the challenge and learned quickly. Throughout the years I took on more administrative responsibilities and management, but I often yearned to move back towards the aspect of Real Estate that I loved most, the aspect that I’m most passionate about, and where I thrive, and that’s Transaction Management. In the summer of 2020, I decided to start offering Transaction Coordination Services and become an official Transaction Coordinator.
I have often been asked why a business that offers administrative Real Estate services is named “Momo Services, LLC?” I admit, at first glance, it might not seem obvious; however, when I considered what business name would most represent me, I couldn’t think of a better inspiration than Momo himself.
Incredibly fierce, feisty, funny, intelligent, persistently stubborn to a fault, and most definitely tenacious, he possesses all the very attributes that I desire to be reflected both within myself and my business.
Thus, in 2014, Momo Services, LLC was “hatched” and has taken flight in 2020!
